Established in 1874 by Kumataro Noguchi in Sashima-gun, Ibaraki Prefecture, Noguchi Kumataro Tea Garden (Noguchitokutarosyoten Co., Ltd.) proudly continues its legacy into the fifth generation. Situated in northern Japan, Sashima-gun, Ibaraki Prefecture, has been renowned for centuries as a prominent tea-producing region, with its tea famously known as Sashima-cha. Notably, Sashima-cha holds the distinction of being the first Japanese tea exported to the United States in 1859, following negotiations facilitated by Townsend Harris, the inaugural U.S. Consul General in Japan.
