Noguchi Kumataro Tea Garden (Noguchitokutarosyoten Co., Ltd.), our company, was founded in 1874 in Sashima-gun, Ibaraki Prefecture by Kumataro Noguchi, the first generation of tea growers, and we are now in our fifth generation. Sashima-gun, Ibaraki Prefecture, has long flourished as a tea production area in the northern part of Japan, and its tea is now called Sashima-cha. Sashima-cha became the first Japanese tea exported to the United States in 1859 through negotiations with Townsend Harris, the first U.S. Consul General in Japan.
We are committed to creating a new tea culture while carefully preserving the traditions and techniques that have been cultivated over five generations. Our products feature the highest quality unique textured Japanese Washi paper, which showcases a variety of traditional Japanese design motifs, such as plums, pine, cherry blossoms, chrysanthemums, hagi, irises, arabesques, bamboo, and waves.
The centerpiece of our offering is a Japanese Tea Tin that beautifully expresses the shimmering and scattering effect of gold and silver strips on a piece of Japanese Washi paper. The outer lid of the tin is curled inward, and it opens and closes smoothly, providing excellent airtightness. Furthermore, the boundary between the lid and the torso is flat, giving the tin a luxurious feel.
The air-tight outer metal lid and the food-grade inner lid of the tea tin work together to preserve the freshness and flavor of the loose tea for a long period. The tin is designed to hold approximately 200g of loose tea, with dimensions of 155mm (H) x 76mm (D).
All of our products are proudly made in Japan, reflecting our commitment to quality and craftsmanship. By combining traditional techniques with modern design, we aim to offer a unique and enjoyable tea experience that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Japan.
In conclusion, Noguchi Kumataro Tea Garden is a fifth-generation tea company that continues to innovate while honoring the traditions of the past. Our Japanese Tea Tin, with its exquisite Washi paper design and superior airtight construction, is a testament to our dedication to preserving the art of tea-making and sharing it with the world.
